Esports Tournament Branding, Marketing, and Broadcast Design

How do you design 100+ esports tournaments in a matter of weeks?

Processes, systems, and a hell of a team.

Every project has its unique challenges and for this project we needed to be able to knock out a full tournament branding and broadcast package for any school under the Learfield IMG umbrella on a tight turnaround.

Creating a flexible branding system.

The tournament brands needed to accommodate both the school sub-branding and potentially a sponsor, so we needed a design system that not only looked great, but was flexible and easy to update.

The first few tournament brands were created as a 2 person team with me handling the tournament branding system and creative direction.

Over 2 years we refined our process with me working as director of creative coordinating a team of 3 designers tackling individual brand parts to be brought together into one cohesive system.

Spring Champion Series Tournament Brand

Fall Champion Series Tournament Brand

6+ Tournament brands applied to 100+ Schools

Every tournament and school could have varying requirements and deliverables, so our branding was flexible to include the following:

  • Tournament logo and branding for every school

  • Social media graphics packages for every school

  • Integrated conference logo for select schools

  • Integrated sponsor logo for select schools

  • Twitch broadcast packages for select schools

What I Love About This Project

I love that we created something that not only looks good but is flexible and efficient. Creating an overall tournament look that can be rebranded to each school without looking disconnected wasn’t easy. With each tournament we learned and improved from the previous one and pushed each other to try different things.
